A Midsummer Night's Dream (1999) is an American film adaptation of William Shakespeare's play of the same name, directed by Michael Hoffman. The ensemble cast features Kevin Kline as Bottom, Michelle Pfeiffer and Rupert Everett as Titania and Oberon, and Calista Flockhart, Anna Friel, Christian Bale and Dominic West as the four lovers. It is the fifth major cinematic adaptation of the play, following the 1909 silent film (directed by Charles Kent), the Academy Award-winning 1935 film (directed by Max Reinhardt), the 1959 Czech animation (directed by Jiří Trnka), and the 1968 British film (directed by Peter Hall).
